Mindful Design

About

The Mindful Design is a nonprofit in Washington State, a 501(c)(3) started in 2025, for accessible, evidence-based mindfulness education. Its founder is a mindfulness teacher and records every lesson here.

What this course is

Each lesson is a short recording and a small skill for an ordinary moment. Take the lessons in order, or start anywhere. Nothing is locked, counted or scored.

Before you begin

This course teaches a few everyday skills. Whether they help you is something only you can find out, and you can stop any time. Some people feel worse, not better, when they turn attention inward. That’s common and usually passes. Eyes open is fine, always, and if paying attention to your breath is hard for you, choose Sound or Feet and seat in any lesson.

What it is not

It does not treat, cure or prevent anything, and it is not a substitute for care from a doctor or a therapist. It does not promise calm, better sleep or less stress. If a practice ever feels like too much, pause it, and look around.

In an urgent situation, use the Help page.

The evidence, plainly

Longer mindfulness programmes, over several weeks, are what most trials have studied. This course is shorter and in pieces, chosen because it fits busy lives. Where a lesson mentions a study, it says who was studied and what the study did not show.
